I have a Yamaha Aventage 740 in the field that I'm having issues with the XM internet radio freezing up after about a hour and half of playing, you can select it again and it will start playing again. All firmware is up to date, has anyone else run into this or know of something I could try that may help resolve the issue? All other network related devices work fine such as Apple TV and a windows media server, only issue is with the Internet XM on the Yamaha. I also called XM to see if they had anything that would time the account out after a set time of no activity and they said that they didn't.

Have you tried using the computer web browser to listen to the SiruisXM radio from there? Just to see if the issue is stuck on the Yamaha AVR or not.

I wasted countless hours with an 830 and 840 about this time last year. SiriusXm tech support once told me their streaming is designed to time out after 90 minutes. Anything after 90 minutes is a bonus. I didn't buy that remark then, don't buy it now. I actually tested on a new Onkyo and new Denon. They were just as bad, if not worse.
It turned out to be a SiriusXm security protocol issue. They finally communicated this to Yamaha a few months later...after it stopped streaming all together. You will never find anyone at Xm to help you with this on the phone. They only support their own devices and apps. I am not seeing it on the RXV630(?) or the RXA1050 I am currently using. They had a firmware upgrade just a few days ago, so you may have to do a manual download. I had over 400 uninterrupted minutes recently. This is the norm with my 1050. Similar results on the 630. They will all eventually time out due to no activity.
If Yamaha can re-create this in their lab, they will be able to solve it.

It's actually one of their FAQ. After 90 minutes a pop up comes up to ask if you're still listening. Since this an AVR, I doubt that pop up occurs.

It seems like one would need to do something to SiriusXM app or what not to let them know that someone is still there.

Perhaps a press or two of the Info button?
