sometimes I wonder when people invite one another to meet at CEDIA or whatever if the scene would be ten solitary guys sitting at a bar, each with a beer, and nobody looking anybody in the eye. Someone would pull out one of those tiny URC remotes that sends out TV OFF signals, one brand after another; he'd push the button; the bar TVs would all go off and we'd scatter to the winds.

Why wouldn't they just create an off macro with every tv brand discrete off commands? :-D

I can barely stand to look around at restaurant AV installs because i get locked into how bad it is and i cant let it go.

you're seeing what happens when restaurant owners get their own way and spend as little as possible on audio. I work with a guy who has been doing restaurants for twenty years. The huge advantage he has is that he proved to employees years ago that he made killer systems, and when those same people open restaurants or even chains, he's appreciated and has work doing more killer systems. We did the audio system at Nobu in Malibu; when the manager asks for us to turn it up for his own amusement, the subwoofers behind the decorative grilles actually make you feel the bass in the floor. No big deal except the floor is at least a foot of concrete cantilevered over the beach sand!


All that said, I've seen every kitchen before it was cleaned up for them to open, and if I was a reasonable person I'd never eat at ANY restaurant, EVER again. And yet, within the last month I've eaten at two of the places I've worked in, and have even invited relatives to do so with me. Surprisingly and fortunately, none of us have died.

Oh, great. Here we go again. Mac, if the posts of late are any evidence then you are correct for sure, but any moment now will begin pages of passive aggressive posts from people taking what you said and turning it into a flame war.

Now this will turn into yet another shit on Mr Stanley thread.

Most things we read here are out of context. If people are attention seeking then these posts just feed into it. If a person truly needs help then their not getting it. If we leave it alone then the need will will be fed elsewhere and then everyone can get back to doing what is most important...

The really sad part is that there used to be some really good info on this forum, all the junk on here the last few years have driven most of the people that used to provide valuable input away. Have people noticed how few people are left on here compared to several years ago? Also, I feel kind of sorry for Daniel having to put up with all the crap people have been putting him thru!

I agree, this place wasnt what it used to be, Afterall RC had the nickname given "remote crazies" years ago and that died off. In just the last year its gotten pretty crazy again but literally 98% of the crazyness can be contributed to a "crazy" individual...while on his "vacation" things have been super quiet and nice in just the three days hes been off.

Overall people respect eachother greatly, I respect just about everyone here and that is alot. The information is invaluable and even though others have moved to other forums this is still the GO TO place to get quick answers.

I'll be honest, ive said it a few times in the last year that I was thinking about leaving here too. Problem is I love this place to much and directly attribute it to alot of my success! If we can get this back on track to be a less crazy place (and I think we are if one person truely leaves) we will be golden again!

To Ernies OP...Im fairly confident the person on vacation would end up in jail considering the personal attacks-threats of physical attracts and defamation of character...the problem is it is such a longshot that anything would ever happen to any party it doesn't even matter. Politicians have money to get a PI and dig dirt up on people. Besides it really wouldn't take much for anyone on here to figure out who's who!
