So its time o consider a new iPad, my iPad 2 is getting frustrating. I'm wondering if the Air 2 is worth the price difference over the Air. Any opinions? Primary uses are email, web surfing, some recreational apps, and running the 20 or so apps that I use for work.
thanks

If you buy the Air2, you will have one more year of use before Apple forces it into obsolescence.

In January I was looking at the Air and Air 2 myself. It was sort of just on the wim, as I really didn't need a tablet. But as an amateur photographer, I might as well have one to show off my work. And perhaps do some editing, though I try to capture the way I want it in the camera. I do very little post production because of it.
Anyways, I went with the Air 2. Just in case when I do need it for post production. I liked how the Air 2 was able to handle the Pixelmator app.
Now that I have iOS9 installed on it. I am very glad that I went with the Air 2... solely because of multitasking. The Air 2 is the only iPad that can handle the multitasking and it does it very well. Can't wait until 3rd party apps are able to do it. Sure the other iPads are able to pull a screen from the right. But that makes the screen on the left inactive, so you can't do anything with it until you hide the screen on the right. With the Air 2, it starts off by making the left screen inactive. But if you pull it half way, then both screen become active. Then you have the choice of which one you want to have full access to the screen from there.
I've already used the multitasking in the way it was meant to. I was sharing a webpage with a friend via Messages. I was able to scroll through the website copy and pasting stuff here and there as I was chatting with the friend.
So if you want to have the ability to do multitasking... go with the Air 2.

I went from an iPad 4 to an Air 2 and it was well worth it over doing the Air.
If you can wait though new iPads should be coming next month which will also mean an Air 2 reduced to the price of an Air.

I have an Air and an Air2 - the main benefit to me on the 2 is the fingerprint unlock, Its a bit thinner too. I have read that Apple is not likely to release a new standard size iPad this year, favouring an update to the mini and possible a larger format - but who knows since its all just rumours.

@KOT- what camera(s) are you using? Nikon D7100. I would like the D7200, but I might wait until next year's model comes out and look at that one. I like the fact that the D7200 has a larger buffer, so those 6fps doesn't start to buffer at 6 frames like the D7100 does. Though Idk if I want to jump to an FX frame camera. I'll have to buy a ton of lens again and what not. If I had a million, then I would with no problem. ha ha KOT

If you're on the iPad 2, it will fee like a HUGE upgrade.
i went from Ipad2 to the Mini 3 and love it. I like the size of the mini a lot more. The air 2 is the only mode with their lost advanced iPad processor.
That said, the air's are so much lighter than our old iPad 2's, that it's possible the air would be just as great. However I really really like the size of the mini

The iPad Air 2 is significantly faster. The WiFi is also better. I was reminded of this yesterday at a customer's house. The customer had a Mini that seemed irksome slow compared to my Air 2. I previously had an Air and the Air 2 is noticeably faster.
I use my iPad for control demos, web browsing, and occasional email. I can't speak for the other Apps.

No matter what you go with. Verizon and AT&T may offer you a 2 year payment option. I know it would be on the cell version of the iPad. But I've heard that it might be on the wifi only version too.
Nevertheless, they'll apply the payments to your monthly cell bill. Which could be pretty nice as you don't have to pay a CC interest.

KOT AT&T does not have the WiFi only version. Also, be aware that Apple products such as iPad/Mini cost are a slighter higher to compare to Micro Center or other sites those offer the product.

KOT I got one of the very first d7000s when it was released. Wouldn't mind a new body now but not looking to spend money on it now. I have a Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 and a nikon 12-24 f/4 that I use most of the time. As for ipads, I haven't kept up with the different models. I have an iPad 2 that has become painfully slow. I also have a mini which I now use instead. The size of the Mini is much more comfortable for just about everything IMHO.
