That 18gbs number everybody throws out is based on the theoretical output of a 4:4:4: YUV video depth source at 60Hz. Initially the 3G UltraHDIP devices will provide support for 4K 60Hz YUV 4:2:0 inputs. We are working on adding support for up to 4:4:4 YUV sources in the future.

Ok, so my dumb question here is can JAP do IR pass through? Meaning can we use a single cat5/6 drop to send video and IR control to a display?

Yes, you can.

Is this only available by adding the VBS-HDMI-IRM?

That is one way. We will be showing a new device to support sending IR commands from control systems directly through 2G/3G devices at CEDIA.
