It's all the crap and post closings that remind me how thankful I am that we have IP.
I don't remember a single post in the last 3-5 years that was closed or even moved.
Come to think of it, I don't remember any of them turning ugly.

Then again, probably 60-80% of people there have each other's personal numbers and emails and at least that many have meet many other's at annual CEDIA IP party.

Still, this is a fun place to come and B/S, I just wish people would take actual questions and problem solving seekers more seriously in answering the question before the post gets offtrack.

I'm going to come out in support of Impaqt here. My comments were intended to be funny and it seems most took them that way, but it appears a bear was also poked in the process and he was indeed staring to wake up. As the instigator with the bear poking stick, i would have understood if my post and the one following had just been deleted but it was Impaqts decision to close the thread and this was an equally valid choice given where we all know it would have ended up anyway based on the response to my posting.
As a moderator Impaqt's job is to make sure that the threads stay civil and adhere to the site rules. He is never going to keep everyone happy but as the cause of that thread being closed, i support his decision. Apologies from me for being the cause, albeit unintentionally.

For the record, here are a few interesting facts about Australia and Australians in response to some of the comments in this thread.

We are proud of having such a high percentage of the worlds most deadly creatures here and still managing to live alongside them.

We don't throw another shrimp on the barbie. We call them Prawns. Those ads were written by an American for the American market.

Our gun laws absolutely did work and there hasn't been a single mass shooting here since they were introduced in the 90's. See the post 39 posted.

The water doesn't swirl in our toilets at all, let alone in the opposite direction. We have a much shallower reservoir in our toilet bowls that you don't end up dipping your fingers into when wiping, and a cistern of water that flushes everything away when purged (without swirling).

Yes our country was build on the back of convicts from England paying their dues for minor crimes and then going on to be honest law abiding citizens of a new country after 7 years. America was built on the back of forcing innocent people from another culture into slavery that lasted generations and was enforced with beatings, killings torture and rape. Who do you think looks worse.

Dude,

When the world is in trouble, they look to the USA, not Australia.

Slavery was started by the European's and spread around the world, America was only one country of many that slavery was an institution of.

If you seriously think that America was built on the backs of slavery, your the most ignorant person on here.

Was slavery a part of the early founding of this country, sure, did we fight a bloody Civil War over it, yes, do we still suffer from the issues of slavery today, unfortunately.

But if you seriously think this country rose to greatness on the backs of slaves....

Actually America asks for our assistance, and we have provided it on many occasions. We on the other hand have never asked for America's help, probably because we have never started a war or had one brought to us due to our foreign policies. Mostly we fight side by side at your request so please don't start waving your flag at me about how the good o'l USA is better than Australia. Based on your comment I'll bet you have no idea how the US is perceived by the rest of the world. It's not as pretty as your media and leadership would have you believe.

Oh get real, Half your country would re-institute slavery if given a chance. just ask every employer who doesn't pay his staff a wage they can live on if he would get his workers for free if he could. Why do you think so many occupations rely on tips to survive. In Australia we don't tip unless the service was great because the waitresses earn between $17 and $25 per hour in wages ($17 is minimum wage here). Our restaurant owners accept that everyone has a right to a decent livable wage and they charge for their meals accordingly. They don't use the bullshit excuse of having to be competitive to force their staff to rely on the good will of people they serve to survive. I suppose you are going to throw that old nugget of "they have a choice to leave" at me now. Which of course is complete BS in an economy with undesirable unemployment levels.

But if you seriously think this country rose to greatness on the backs of slaves....

I'm Australian in case you didn't catch that so i have no idea who Toby Keith is.....Your cousin?

Correct me if i'm wrong but Australia entered WW2 at Americas request and became a target as a result. It was America that was first attacked by the Japanese. One of our nations has benefited much more than the other from our alliance and it isn't Australia.

You have a bigger military machine than us for sure. We are a country with 10% of your population so that's to be expected but it doesn't make you a greater country.

I honestly believe that if you asked foreigners who know a bit about both country's but have no allegiance to either where they wold rather live, the overwhelming majority would come here.

Then there's this:

We need a huge military because our oil companies need hired guns to murder poor people who have the misfortune of being born on top of oil and our weapons dealers need hired guns to blow sh!t up with their products.

America might have the biggest but its covered from balls to tip in STD's.

Jeff, we don't suffer from issues of slavery -- we suffer from issues of racism.

I love how threads just go off in a variety of different directions.

How in the world did this one evolve into a war between the USA and Australia?

That said, I'll jump in with this:

It's not about the countries at all. The problems rise due to politicians in ALL the countries. Left to the normal people, we would all just go about doing our thing, and leaving each other alone, for the most part.

Politician = King, Queen, Supreme Leader, Terrorist, etc, etc. Those who wish to impose their will on others.

I thought the motherland was Europe, I guess everyone forgets about the real natives in North America.
