I just wanted to give a quick thanks to SnapAV who contacted me yesterday to offer their support in resolving this issue with the client.

They are providing me with a free upgrade / replacement camera, which is part of an overall solution I've presented the client that also includes running new cable.

Thanks also to the RC members for their help.
If it's not simple, it's not sufficiently advanced.

Ahhh... but we want to know the cause!

Did you do the test for voltage drop?

Oh well, maybe you will discover the problem when you pull the old cable out.
