FFWD a hundred years and we are the beacon of freedom and hope...WW1 and WW2 roll around and we become global heroes...even those we slaughtered and enslaved are now proud to call themselves American...the dream of democracy and freedom are finally realized...and then corporate America turned our military into a resource grabbing security force. You really should read up on why the Revolution happened. It wasn't to stop paying taxes, it was to stop being taxed unfairly for things that didn't directly affect the colonies. Did you know that when raw materials were harvested here (furniture-grade lumber, cotton, wool and others) and someone wanted to make furniture or clothing, it was required that a description of the desired piece be sent with the materials, so it could be built in England? Also, the materials were often better than what was available in England and it was common for the item to be made from inferior materials, the original having been re-appropriated for other use. To make it worse, the materials were taxed on the way out and re-taxed when they returned as finished goods.
You have heard the phrase 'Taxation without representation'- the Colonies had no representation in Parliament, yet they were required to just accept whatever came their way from the Crown. THAT is unacceptable.
The Stamp Act required Colonists to pay a tax for every page of printed paper they used, the paper having been stamped with the official seal of The Crown.
Immigrants are shocked when they come here and find out that A.They can work and B.They can make a decent living whether they make donuts or become a lawyer and C.They can (for the most part) fall asleep at night without worrying about machete wielding raiders smashing through their front door to take what they have and mutilate their children. I wish the folks with anti-immigrant sentiment could spend the night in one of the places that people tend to flee...it might help them understand why they come here. It's not that all immigrants are a problem- many are wonderful people who just want a better life. MS-13, Mexican Mafia, small-time criminals and the gang population exploded a long time ago and they cost a helluva lot of money in terms of police/fire/EMS/hospital care/increased insurance premiums and lives lost. Did you hear about the bag of crap who shot a young woman who was walking with her father? No apparent reason, either. He had been deported five times and has a fairly lengthy criminal record.
We have had problems in MKE with this kind of crap, too. One was released from prison and three hours later, he shot & killed someone at the lakefront. Why he was released, I can't understand.
The part about immigrants coming here and making a good living is what really annoys me about a lot of Americans- they sit on their asses and collect benefits after quitting school, saying they can't get a job. That's a load of crap! If they wanted to, they cold do just as well as the immigrants who came here with little/nothing and might not even speak the freaking language. They learn. It happens all the time and what do we have? A lot of people collecting benefits and not contributing to the cost of running the country and states where they live. Then, they can always be counted on to vote for the party that wants to keep the free stuff coming, rather than the party that wants them to finish school, get a job and improve their lives.
I'm convinced that a lot of Democrats would be very happy with one party in our government but that would never work and it never does- someone always wants to be in charge, handle the money and make the rules, excluding someone else. They seem to be OK with telling others what to do and how much to give, but when someone turns the tables, they yell, scream and call the other side all kinds of names.

I came into this game for the action, the excitement. Go anywhere, travel light, get in, get out, wherever there's AV trouble, a man alone.

Don't get me started on this. Yes, I think we should limit or censor pregnancy. No, I don't think it would ever work. I just became great-grandfather because my then 15 year old grandson impregnated his 14 year old daughter. You tell me that it's the right thing for the new parents (guess I can't call them kids anymore), their parents (grandparents), who now have the obvious burden or helping with raising their grand-kid. Lets not forget about you and I (taxpayers) as the society, that's asked to pay for the hospital costs, the food stamps, WIC and a bunch of other things for years to come.
You can't drink until 21, vote until 18, serve until 17 and work until 16, and drive until 15 and have proven to be able to drive (Driver's Ed), but hell, lets let you make a baby at any time and as many times as you'd like. And, if you suck at parenting, we'll take your kid away and make the government pay for it, while allowing you to make more babies.
