He is sharp -- good choice, cutting the TV along the vertical axis -- otherwise only one party could view the stock market ticker at the bottom of the screen -- thus preventing further litigation.

In audible terms -3dB is at the detection threshold for untrained listeners. I doubt that snuggling teens would notice a 3dB reduction in couch size.
