I have a job that has 8 Samsung UN40H5003 tvs. All tvs are paired with H25 receivers. I have tried every Samsung code Listed in one of the DTV remote control user guides. I've also let the H25 go through several attempts at programming the remote. Everything works but power off. When I try to turn off the tv a message pops up saying "not available"

I also looked for a firmware update for these tvs but couldn't find one on the Samsung site. Anyone know something I'm missing here?

When I received the Hopper from Dish, I was impressed the remote is also a learning remote. Does DirecTV not have this with that line up of receivers?

DirecTV has never, to my knowledge, had any learning function on any remotes. It's possible that the recent RC-71 can do that. I don't know about that one.

Fins,
set the TVs to turn off after the shortest period or no signal that you can program.

If the TVs won't do that, maybe they are cheap TVs. Maybe, if they're cheap, for some reason, the IR OFF command doesn't exist... or something else lame like that.

Does the satellite remote's ON command turn the TV off, by any chance? If so, at the beginning of the day you could turn the TV and satellite on with ON; when you're done, turn the TV off with ON, then hit OFF to turn off the satellite receiver.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Not that I'm aware of. But even so, I don't think the standard power off codes that normally work for Samsung work on this model

The on command is discrete. That's why it's so strange that the TV won't accept an off command

Sure sounds like the other complaints that a firmware update fixed.

I know. But this is an H model not a J. The new J models had the firmware fix. I can't find a firmware update for the H model

10158 has always worked for me on Samsung's.

Don't know if it is on your list or not of course.
No, it doesn't come preprogrammed.

Does the middle PWR key in the tv device on the Directv remote power on & off the Samsung?

What remote comes with the H25 anyways?

Have you tried taking a test remote with a known working discrete OFF code?

It's the old school white DTV remote. Not the new short and stubby remote. I haven't tried that. But I haven't had this problem before with samsungs and directv remotes. That's why I haven't tried something else yet
