Need two of these old POS's

Or to be more precise, I need the battery covers for two of these POS's

I already know that it's the same physical remote as the MX850 so if somebody has some old non working ones that would be great.

Obviously I mean the remote not working, not the battery cover not working Ernie!

While newer remotes give added features, I wouldn't call that a POS. They are solid remotes.

The battery doors are available for sale. Call URC HQ and ask for the parts department. They can sell you the battery doors.

Any of the MX-500/MX-700 variant covers will fit, although they are different color plastic/paint depending on model.

I have an MX-500 that I don't need. Let me know if it would be useful. I never programmed it.

POS? Really?

I have a few that are still put there working after all these years. Can you say that about the MX900?

When I was in the biz I sold many, many, many of the MX-850's. Initially sold a few of the mx-800's. Was my go to unit.

I only had to replace 2 for customers because of abuse. Period.

I still use 2 of them in my own home & they work without fail. Other than using like 3 sets of batteries a year when the kids lived at home still.

The media room unit has been in daily use by our entire family and used outside when we have parties for 8 1/2 years.

The one in our bedroom theater, haha, gets slept on, falls off the bed at least once a week, etc.

Um, not POS's...

Some people think "new" is a feature that sets something apart from "already existing" and "functioning perfectly."

People have a built-in perception problem. When we compare something old and reliable with something new, we simply don't remember how many "new" things have failed, leaving the working old things.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I've lost count of the failed MX900's, yet NEVER had a SL9000, MX350, MX650, MX800, or MX850 fail.

Based on that, I would say the MX900 is the POS, and not the SL9000, MX350, MX650, MX800, or MX850

I've had zero failed MX900s. I've had MX900s with bad buttons. $5 part, 10 minutes of my time and it's like a new remote. While the 850, 800, 700... are built like tanks, they lack any logic based programming. Don't have a discreet command? Guess you're pressing two buttons. They are great remotes, but the software was improved upon with the 900 and other remotes of its time that just make it a better remote.

Bad button membranes ARE failures.

My experience is that way too many have had this problem, and when I need to get a replacement membrane, seems like URC is always out of stock, so I like to move the client up to a rechargeable remote.

That eliminates the issue permanently.

So, what 5$ part are you getting to fix their problem, where are you getting it, and just how long does that fix last?

From URC. New membrane. Never ordered when out of stock. Have not had one go bad yet with new membrane.
