A couple years ago I did a few of those ultra-thin 8000 and 9000 series Samsung TV's that looked killer on a razor mount, flat against the wall. I have a job for a friend I'm doing and I wanted another Samsung of similar depth but they are all now 2.5" or more in thickness. It looks like they all have a bumpout on the bottom-rear of the TV that makes them considerably thicker and won't allow a razor-style mount.

How are you addressing this problem?

Thanks!

Selling a different brand.

It's all going backwards so people stop complaining about the horrible SQ in their TVs. You know, cause people are cheap....

Or you could open the wall and build a recessed opening.

They are thicker because Samsung found that ultra thin caused some problems of its own, like over heating and shortening the life of the panel

I find really thin models look really bad at wide angles. Probably because of the way they are back lit

Installed a Samsung UN65JS8500FXZA earlier this week. 1.2 inches thick. 4K at normal viewing distances was not noticeable. Samsung is a heck of a marketing machine. Told my client to save his money and stick with 1080p and use the savings on better audio equipment. I'm not a good enough salesman obviously.

I showed my buddy the 48" version of that tv and he loves it. :)

Thanks for the suggestion.

I have been able to talk every customer out of buying 4k so far. Just not ready. Just not worth it. Just not enough content. Cant tell the difference 12 feet away anyway. Yes, 4k is cool. But pretty much only when you are five feet or less from screen. Not worth it in my book. yet.

Yes Samsungs have gotten thicker over the last few years as well as my ex wife's thighs.

I really can't understand these engineers. every year, every model a different way the hdmi ports are in the back, ir receiver, sometimes the panel is super thin, and all the ports are straight in the back, making you either put holes on the wall or mounting the TV 3-4 inches away from the wall.
