Looking for a single outdoor unit that is a doorbell as well as an IP camera that has drivers for control4.

Anyone?

Control4!

+1 why would you not just use the C4?

There will be an NVR with IP cameras in the system, and the Control4 video intercom camera won't record to the NVR. The customer likes the idea of a camera down low for a good look a who is at the door (vs up high), and likes the idea of losing her "ugly" existing doorbell - hence my search for an all-in-one unit, but also wants motion activated video to record activity to the NVR.

That information would of been very handy in the OP.

Hey, I try, but this one completely changed the dynamic of the original question.

the Control4 door station is a logical and 100% accurate answer to his original question. Now with this additional info, the C4 wont work due to the fact that it doesnt play nice with NVR's.

The Holovision can use a Panny Ip camera in a nice housing along with a doorbell button that can tie into Panny phone systems or other Types of phone systems.

Pretty slick looking but my only complaint is that the box that gets mounted to the door is pretty big, IMHO.

If we could integrate almost the same features into a unit that's the size of "Ring", we would have a winner.

I know they recently added support for the Siedle products as well as 2N Helios IP door stations. What I do not know is if the cameras in those can be accessed by your NVR. That would be worth looking into.

You are correct - the NVR changes the sitch.

I actually ended up trying out the Control4 outdoor intercom, as the customer said they could forgo the recording feature. I tried to pair it up with a version 2 7" touch panel.

I have to say, this is my first direct experience with the intercom unit and I was disappointed.

I hooked it up without actually installing it in the wall, and then showed it to my customer. We tried various angles, including side view. The picture from the camera is very small on the 7" and the resolution not great. In addition, the lighting coming from the doorway casts shadows, making it pretty much useless in terms of easily being able to see who is at he door (thank god I tested it like this before cutting it into the wall!)

I'm curious if anyone has any real world installs with the new C4 version 3 panels or 10" touch panel that were happy with the intercom solution.

Siedle is way over budget on this one. eHolovision I am checking into. They have a Houselogix driver you can use for C4 integration.

All these solutions are pretty high prices. I've considered just not using the C4 7" TP and going with a stand alone solution like Comelit, since they don't use the touch panel much anyway.

For those who may be interested:

I found the recently released Channelvision SI-7000 IP camera doorbell unit.

It does have Control4 drivers for the built in IP camera. It's basically a Channelvision model 6533 dome camera built into a doorbell intercom unit as I understand it.

The intercom portion isn't compatible with Control4 touch panels, but my customer doesn't really care much about that. However you can use the Channelvision TE-111 to ring the house phone for intercom, or use additional optional modules for compatibility with Panasonic phone systems.

The cameras GUI interface is identical to Snap IP cameras, so it seems like they use the same manufacturer.

Haven't installed it but looks promising so far.

The big problem with the c4 door station is that there is no IR so it is pretty useless at night. Also IP64+ and IK10 are really needed in an outsoor intercom unit.
