I know there's a term for it. Probably just an advanced scaler but here is what I need.

I need a device that can connect 4 HDMI inputs to one output and display all simultaneously our selectable to one at a time. I need it to be controllable to select different inputs or combination of inputs. URC preferred as that's the existing system and familiarity. Also need it to be able to have multiple input formats. Curious how we decide which audio source is passed.

The scenario is a home office for a professional day trader where the client has three pc outputs and a cable box. Normally all screens would be displayed simultaneously but would want the functionally of selecting any one to full screen.

I do not have access to Crestron.

Just sell them the big JVC via [email protected]@D. I thought it would do a four-way split screen with 4 HDMI in, but don't quote me on that....

It will but the refresh is off for some sources such as satellite wouldn't work in all four quadrants... There was a simple piece that someone found for each source that brought it back down to a a usable source for like $50 each.

Check the Gefen piece

The audio is selectable for the chosen window... which is nice.
I think they has 10 or so presets to make different window sizes and placements.
Some default, some custom.

Got to play with before actual release but it was nice.

Just add power can do multiview to one window and act as a scaler and be controlled with IR?

You need a tiling piece. Planar and Crestron make one.

No And No

JAP can do video wall but it requires 4 monitors and then can make them act as 1 large monitor.

It also requires either IP or 232 control of the managed switch for control of the switch for switching.

Thanks. That's what I assumed. LOve pointing out when people answer so confidently yet incorrectly. My details were specific. Not sure why he would burr out a wrong answer.

Yeap, that is the one. Great for things like the basketball tournament on a big screen. Was playing with one yesterday.

We have a tiling device coming out in the near future that will allow you to do this. It's revolutionary in the sense that it's completely dynamic, meaning you're not stuck tiling the same four sources to a single display, and only that display (like a traditional tiler). Any four sources in your system can be tiled at any one time...and those four sources can be tiled to ANY of the displays in your system.

We can do this because we're not confined to a "box" like traditional tilers and matrix switches. We live on the network, which gives us near limitless possibilities and flexibility.

Getting back more specifically to your questions....we have a driver for URC, but it's not IR. Not sure how big of a deal that is. If it's a deal killer, then it's a deal killer.

Regarding scaling...no, we don't do that. However, I don't see any reason why you couldn't convert the sources to HDMI before going into a Just Add Power device for distribution.

Our support staff is among the best in the business. Give them a ring. You'll walk away confident from the call knowing exactly what can be accomplished.
