Anyone have a bead on such a beast that is worth a C#$p?

I need to tap into an exiting hot tub sub speaker and I need to tap off an existing distributed audio stereo zone output (no line level out available).

Of course... I could just say no...

the Definitive Technology sub amp 600 is a decent bet for the money, it has external cross over control.
Hey, careful man, there's a beverage here!

Use one of these and add you favorite sub amp?

The Crown xls1500 is bridgeable and has crossover built in.

Or Brads idea also.

The cheap products linked to will do the job if you will lose the mindset that the subwoofer must have the speaker to line level circuitry built into it. Get an external unit: THAT is the way to slay this beast.

There might still be some units out there that only output bass effects on the power amp outputs, so this is a good idea anyway.

Be aware that all of these units offer a pretty high impedance load to the amplifier. I wrote it that way just to scare you if you weren't thinking: a high impedance load means hardly any current at all is drawn by the adaptor, so you can run 26 gauge wire (or larger with zero added benefit) a hundred feet to one of these 8 ohm to line level adaptors, and not have any problem at all!
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Thanks for the ideas... I somehow blanked on the concept of an external adapter.

Like this-

Or, it could be made for little money, but the "our cables have batteries" and "our cables will complete you" crowd will probably cringe.

Danger!
I can't be completely sure without going and checking again, but I believe the Xantech unit is common ground input. Meaning it will work with many A/V receivers, stereo amps, and many audio distribution amps. But NOT all. Some audio distribution systems (and amps) have BTL outputs and using this can 'damage' them.
A quick check with your trusty multi-meter will let you know.
I however always suggest using a speaker level to line level adaptor, that does NOT have common ground inputs.
