The influence of lawyers, extended WAY into your personal space.

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Really, the only trouble with lawyers is that 98% of them give the other 2% of bad name.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

And yet, they can still bill at $350+ per hour.

Don't get me started on those......

My dealings with a lawyer:

Him - "I need the quote detailed, so I can see what the cost is on each item and the labor rates.".

Me - "How much per hour do you charge?".

Him - "I cannot tell you that.".

Me - "Nor can i.".

Didn't get the job, and didn't really want it after the conversation. A competitor did, and he got screwed twice. Didn't get paid AND got sued.

The business policy became "No sales to lawyers.".

I feel the same way dealing with doctors . I have to go to the doctor 10 times to get cured and have to pay each time. I wonder how they would feel if I went to there house 9 times didn't fix the problem and charged them every time?

I have the same problem with an oncologist who was really wonderful to me when I was sick. He had just retired and discovered in a phone conversation what I was going through. He offered free advice any time. I never needed to call him but it was one hell of a comfort, knowing I could.

Meanwhile, though, after that, it took me hours and hours to solve an HDMI problem, the details of which I cannot even remember (five years ago, at least). He would not pay. I never shoved this in his face: ...so if I come to you with symptoms that completely match something you have successfully dealt with numerous times, and your solution does not work for me... you won't bill me. Right?
