And you haven't had any problems with Yamaha disc players? Hahahaha...
Honestly I haven't used them in many years. 100% failure rate on all the old stuff, scared me away.
Yamaha A/V receivers are great but disc players... not so much. The Aventage disc players are suppose to be so much better and built by them. But over the years (decades), Yamaha has "LIED" to us about that many times before, when introducing a new disc player. So I absolutely do not believe them now. "Boy that cries wolf" "Fool me once..." etc...

As far as the Sony bluray problems; this may fall under my 'voodoo theory' about electronics in certain places in the world. If you are indeed seeing that much failure with the Sony's, then it maybe that they will not work in your area. Test and use a different brand.

Brad,

The aventage Bluray player has been solid. Only 1 in the field. It does not have streaming options. It seems to be built well and our tech's really liked it. Hard to say if it is any better than the ones you had trouble with. I am only assuming since it is in the Aventage line it is going to work well. It is priced like the Oppo unit.

I had a 100% failure on Samsung Blurays and we switched to Sony. The Sony units have reduced quality significantly. Our solution is Yamaha aventage bluray with a streaming device.

My son and I both have 3200's. Very happy with them both. No issues (knock on wood)... for what I paid for them... no complaints ($30.00!!!) EACH.

Any pattern to the need for power interruption? If so, maybe a programmable timer would be a good way to go, or something like WattBox or BlueBolt.

Highfish,

Here is the issue we have upwards of 200 Sony bluray in the field. even if Each client has 1 lock up its much cheaper to go out a pull the plug and charge a $150 Than put a ip controlled surge. By the TimeWe sell them a ip controlled surge and put it on the network and port forward it its at least $1000. And then we still have to going in and reset it and have to charge them for that. It Only hurts the client not help them.

I thought I had excised the Yamahas from my memory. Those things are tumors. We also had the 100% failure rate.

Of course last night, had a hot date. We were going to watch Netflix... My damn 3200 Sony totally locked up. Doing a hard reboot did not fix the issue! #[email protected]**
It would not even respond to any commands from the remote.

So everyone on the west coast, don't use Sony BD players. All of us on the east coast, we're good to go. Awesome!
