8550 definitely has 2.2.
sell them now. there is no reason not to. they look great. they are ready for any 2.2 sources. in a few months, we will see some 2.2 delivery devices. why not?
also, trent, does the chain include extenders? do the extenders have to be 2.2? or is the extender just a means of transportation like an hdmi cable?

Yes....our current extenders will pass 4K, but when we tried passing a 2.2 source through them, we got no picture. As soon as we went back to our new 2.2 enabled extenders, it worked like a champ. Extenders encode/decode, which means they would be bound to the HDCP license.

Regarding the audio, the first version out of the gate can extract the audio from HDMI for routing out analog, but can't pull off Dolby or DTS. We will have another version available around March that will have the ability to down-covert Dolby and DTS. It's a licensing issue and we're just waiting for approval. I think we just got our DTS license and are now waiting on Dolby.

I'm real confused after a 1080p to 4K install last night. A Sony X850B 4K TV will not display a Sony Blu-ray signal after the initial boot logo. The TV shows 480p and a blank screen. Connecting the same HDMI cable directly into the TV input works for the FiOS TV box and Roku, but both a new and older Sony Blu-ray will not output a signal to the TV. Is this a HDCP 2.2 incompatibility? I just don't understand why a new Sony 4K TV would fight two different Sony Blu-ray players. The players also worked fine with the older 1080p TV.

I think if you hold the STOP button on the front of the player for 10 seconds, it's supposed to reset the video output to default.
However, I have an older Sony BDP-S550 hooked up to the X850B, and no issues...

I replaced the Monster Cable HDMI with Key Digital and it began working. I thought that I had isolated the HDMI cable by testing with the other, but they were an identical cable.

OT...
We put in a 4K Sony a few months ago. When i sat through the demo after calibration i came away thinking it looked great but i wasn't blown away. I was comparing it to the last theater we did with a Sim Teatro that really knocked my socks off.
I was just back at the Teatro project doing a system check for the client...I sat through part of a movie in the theater and i couldn't believe what i was seeing. The Teatro wasn't even close to the Sony PJ (watching 1080 content).
You really need to do a side by side in real time imo.
