For a system that as a Genie (HR44) and 4 H25 receivers, how many tuners does that count up as? It will also have 3 Genie Clients, but I dont think those count. Is it 9 tuners and would need a SWM16?

The swm-13 has been released.

I'm not sure why it's magic number is 13 but its better than eight!

I'd be a tad concerned about implementing the swm13 if you intend to use all 13 channels. When the swm8 came out it took quite a few software updates to allow the full supplement of tuners to be used without signal loss intermittently on a few but not all installs. Same thing when the released the SL5S LNB. They may have learned from the previous mistakes, but I can't forget the many truck rolls I made to fix rolling receiver outages only to reboot them and wait for the next call. We limited the SWM8 and SLS5 to 6 channels maximum for 6 months before giving it another go. Alakazam, they all worked like a charm maxed out. Just my 2 cents.

As it is, it uses digital filtering to push the channels closer together. The frequency space allowed for 5 more channels to be added. Hence, the 13 channels.

No, it doesn't come preprogrammed.

Thanks. I may give that one a try. If I go with a 16 I will have to bury three more runs of coax to the dish.

Btw, it's 13 because that is what you can fit on one 8 way switch. The power port goes only to the power supply, one port goes to the genie (5 tuners) and six remaining ports can be used for single tuner receivers. 5 + 6 = 13

Must be the "New Math".

I aced Algebra,Trig,Geometry, and college math when I was in school.

Fast forward to my daughter in high school.

She had a couple questions on her "math" homework and asked for some help.

After reviewing it,all I could think was "who was the Arts or Drama teacher that designed this crap and WHY are you teaching it to my child!" ;-)
