Simple question - for every 10 screens you sell/install, how many are 2:35?

about a half
We're not selling screens. We're not selling AVRs, or projectors, or remote controls. We're selling systems that fit into the home and give the best entertainment value for the space.
If a person watches mostly TV, the programs are in 16:9. A 2.35 screen reduces the size of the content the person wants to watch the most. Our best client with a 2.35 screen mostly watches movies, and is content to see a smaller image on a narrower screen when he watches TV.
Those approaches fit the clients best.
By the way, the question has some hidden assumptions, one being that everyone watches pretty much the same mix of programming. If you examine what they watch and select clients of one type or the other, you have have the proportions of 16:9 screens to 2.35 screens vary wildly. I'd say, in general, though, the lower priced systems will use 16:9 screens.
Another by the way is that it's consistent to ask about 1.78 screens versus 2.35 screens or to ask about 16:9 screens versus 47:20 screens. 16:9 and 2.35 are a mix of ways to express aspect ratio.

I only sell masking systems, if they want a fixed screen they can go to a lesser integrator than myself.
I wish I could get away with saying that.
I do mostly 16:9, people don't seem to mind the top and bottom bars that much. The other issue I've found is you need a wide room to handle a 2:35:1 screen, I find I'm squeezing a lot of theaters in smaller spaces. Also, this is a football town, people watch more NFL than movies around here it seems.

We sell far more 16:9 than 2.35:1
Again, situational.

Typically, we sell a lot more 16:9 systems but so far this year has been the exception with close to 80% being 2.35 systems with A-lens and masking. I don't know if this trend will continue.

Ask me out of every 100 then I can answer. 1 lol. Goal is to do more 2.35 where applicable but space and budget always get in the way.

Just sell SI Black Diamond in 2.35:1, "Self Masking"! Gotta love marketing but in this case the greasy bastards are right.
