use good compression fit F connectors, properly installed and tighten them correctly using a 30 in/lb coax torque wrench. Have never had an issue in over twenty years of doing RF systems.
Oh - and actually DO some RF engineering on your systems. Don't just install a big wonking amplifier and a splitter and expect everything to just work. Know how much signal you're being given by your cable provider, calculate your loss on your cable runs, all splitters, etc. Figure out how much amplification you actually need. If you're pushing 50 dBmV to a TV or cable box location, you probably have a problem.
