The question of a cheap, simple, learning remote comes up all the time... and basically, there isn't one. Well, there has been... but apparently they don't sell.

About the simplest actual learning remote you can still kinda get is the Weemote dV:

The discontinued RTI U1 might have been ideal. Or the aforementioned URC Sidekick, if you can find one. It's basically a one-device MX-700 squeezed into a tiny package (even takes the same config file). Well, save for the prices...

Considering all the eager cheap Chinese manufacturers out there, I don't know why SOMEONE can't come out with a simple learning remote just for this purpose, even if it doesn't sell tens of thousands of units.

I'll bet you can get a URC KP900 cheap nowadays. I heard that URC was throwing them out by the box load.

Well the distributors want a mint for the URC MX900. Great sturdy remote, but the price compared the current offerings is a joke.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.
