I am fully aware of the intended purpose of the HR44 and its use of genies.

I have D/V in my home so genies are of no use to me. I currently have 2 HR23's and they work , but are terribly slow to control(AMX ip)

I have heard nothing but good things about the HR44's and especially how fast they are to control IP.

I am wondering if you can have more than one on the same SWM setup? I beleive they take 6 tuners each so I would need a SWM 16 to make it work.

Is this possible?
Don't read my answer. Someone else will go into great detail as to why I am wrong rather than answer the original question...

I have not checked in a while, but at one point they would not allow more than 1 HR44 per project. They might have pulled their head out of their ass and changed this though...

The genies each take 5 swm channels not 6. 9 channels show up on the meter because one is a comm channel only.

DirecTV won't activate 2 on the same account because most systems can't handle 10 tuners and the genies are both actively looking for clients. If you choose not to use the clients it would work perfectly well with a swm16 but would require 4 lines from the dish and a replacement SL5 LNB. It could be possible to get 2 activated with a sweet tongue and getting bumped to Tier 2 support.

The SL5S LNB that the majority of customers will have these days only support 8 tuners. The SWM16 and SWM32 would support it.

The SL5 is a traditional multiswitch LNB with all 4 lines out carrying all of the sateliite signals down to the distribution where a quad-E4 or FMC-6 can distribute it.
No, it doesn't come preprogrammed.

I think since you have D/V you know what it is. I haven't heard of it specifically by that name and can't imagine what it is. What it is?

He's got D/V right now, whatever that is, so maybe he has not DirecTV at all and so won't be replacing anything, but starting from scratch. Helpful info otherwise, though!

Does anybody who's reading this have two Genies on one account and one wiring system? By saying one wiring system I mean to eliminate people who have one account but more than one wiring system or perhaps even more than one address. Just wondering.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

It seems like a pretty safe assumption that D/V is distributed video

I have HR23 that I control from my NoteII with a free app.
I have NEVER seen faster control. I can press skip 30 sec 7 times is about half a second.
Now, it may take the damn box 3 seconds to respond, but the commands were all sent and received instantly.

So is that what you meant about slow IP on 23s?

I have not been able to have as fast of command sent from my old Pilipinas TSU9600, OEM remote or any version of URC ones I've tried (both CCP & TC).

I like it. It hadn't occurred to me, that's all.

Scratch that. They are HR21. So they are older. Maybe a simple upgrade to 23's is a better idea.

23s were the shit back 3-4 years ago.
As I said, IP commands are accepted very fast, but the box still takes 3-5 seconds to catch up.

I'm stuck with my 23, but surely there has to be something newer, better, faster.

The current HD dual tuner DVR is the HR24, and even this model is getting a bit long in the tooth. It is much faster than the HR23.

We've had just about every HR23 out with clients fail at this point.

Holy crap!
I just looked at my box's settings and I have HR22/100.
Sorry for 'laying'.
It's HR22 that I'm using that has the great IP speed, it's just taking it a while to catch up.
