A company would have more success selling TWO or even ONE brand than ten. This is fact to me as I speak from experience. Find one and sell the hell out of it.

yall are selling WAY to many brands!!! why would any shop need 20 brands of speakers and 10 brands of receivers!? knock a few of those off and you may have some time to listen to speakers you are selling! ;) 30 years in business. We are doing something right. More brands. More options. Plus, you know how it goes. Sometimes to get the selling rights, you have to take the whole brand cluster. (Like core).

I'm my whole company. Curiosity is what can make a business succeed- if my friend at the stereo store hadn't stuck his head in the Jamo booth in 1979, we would never have been their 2nd dealer in the US, we would never have sold the crap out of their speakers AND made a ton of money.
Seeing through a speaker never made any difference to me, as a customer OR dealer. Are you selling cosmetics to your customers over sound quality? Really?
If you don't like the wood grain, why didn't someone choose a different veneer (or, was this one only available in one type?)?
In my original post, I was asking if anyone had experience with Thiel speakers because I have only heard the one pair, for a few minutes. I didn't ask for excuses about why you don't bother to listen to the products you sell but if you're making what you did ten years ago, it might be time to have a sit-down with the owner(s) about your compensation.
If you stock items by all of the manufacturers, you're either tying up too much in inventory dollars or, if you floor plan, you're paying too much interest. If you move all of these brands and models, congratulations! It's always fun to have a bunch of installers get together. There is always this little bit of pissing contest about who has done the most or worked on the most. I told you my experience with Thiel. Carry them. Haven't heard them. It was only when you (foolishly) questioned me in the sense of asking why I hadn't taken the pride or curiosity to figure out what my company sells that I felt any need for real response. ON an opinion note. I find them atheistically displeasing.. And their veneer is the same across their line. I've seen them. It's clear on their website, too. The funny thing is, Highfigh, this is open forum and a thread that asked for opinion. Having offered both my opinion and experience as suggested by the first post, I find it both discouraging and disheartening that you would (1). tell me the best way to run the business (2) question my pride and curiosity in my products. I do not feel if we were two installers sitting at a training somewhere that you would find it tactful, meaningful, or socially acceptable to do either of those things.

I hope you get your speaker situation taken care of, but I can't stand it any more. Are these Thiel or Heil?
Please edit the title. You're killin' me.

We've had them over a year on display. I've never heard them or seen a pair sold. They seem like they are trying to look high end with their design motif, but didn't quite make it. From what I understand they used to be very nice speakers. But have lost something over the years. I know someone that worked for a shop that tried to pick them up years ago. Their rep came in with a list of requirements that included oriental rugs in the listening rooms. The owner told them to get the *#%+ out.

I do not feel if we were two installers sitting at a training somewhere that you would find it tactful, meaningful, or socially acceptable to do either of those things. I didn't mean it as a personal attack, just some observations WRT the number of SKUs, wondering about importance of visual appeal and not having heard a speaker that has been in your inventory for a year, or more. I think we, as integrators, tend to be more curious than others, or we wouldn't be interested in the latest technologies. I wasn't telling you how to run your business but I think we all know others who went under because they had too much money tied up in inventory, accounts receivable and dead stock to be able to weather the economic storm that come along. When I wrote "If you move all of these brands and models, congratulations!", I meant it- most dealers have cut out as many redundant items as possible, but again, if you're selling enough of what you carry, congrats! It also shows that you don't hang your hat on one brand, which can be a real problem when that one ceases production of the products (Pioneer) or has a string of equipment/component failures (Onkyo, Denon, etc). You have options that many dealers don't.

I was surprised to see that assfsdf has atheistic objections to ANY speakers. The only thing God-like in this industry is the entire range of Monster Products. Wait, no, there's Bose... and Sony's attitude... On October 14, 2014 at 11:35, highfigh said...

The best characterization of a custom installer's stockroom that I ever heard was calling it "The Mistakes Room." And that company is out of business after the owner moved WAY outta town (outta state, and I'm on the west coast, so that's some distance) and management and sales were left to a guy who could not have sold refrigerators along the equator.

Used to work for a big Thiel dealer. Excellent speakers across the board. RUn them with good electronics as they will show the weak link in the audio chain.

Krell Home Theater Standard preamp/processor and Krell KAV-500 power amp, at this point. I may recommend something else for pre/pro, if the audio/video synch is bad enough. It also doesn't have HDMI.
