Is it possible to control a Genie system with IP control? I have an HR44 and teo clients. But when I do a Fing scan I only find one IP address. Also, Fing shows that address has 3 devices with the same address.

How do I route commands to the clients?

you can, but it has a few limitations.

the main genie DVR unit control works 100%

the clients don't have a power on or power off discrete command

also, if you navigate to certain menus in the clients, the IP control will lock up.  you then have to back out of the menu with an IR remote, or reset the box.

you point your codes at the IP address for the main genie DVR.  in your code, you add the mac address of the client you are trying to control.  In URC, the codes look like this:

GET\x20/remote/processKey?key=chanup&hold=keyPress&clientAddr=CC35408252E7\x20HTTP/1.1\x0D\x0AContent-Length:\x200\x0D\x0A\x0D\x0A

The red part of the code would be the mac address

Thanks. Sounds like I should stick with serial for in a customer's system

I do IP for the genie and IR for the clients. Works great. Didnt know you could do RS232 for the clients.
