Are there issues with the Redmere chipset and the Cisco/Scientific Atlanta cable boxes that are HDMI 1.2 and have that clock stretching issue like with HDBaseT?

I have used the Snap active cables in longer lengths with these boxes with no issues.

OK. I just found out we've had 2 or 3 houses with active cables that have issues of some sort (i.e. "it's broke"), but the clock stretching thing was the first thing that popped into my head. I haven't investigated at all yet. Except one house where I know one of the two cables was run backwards.... being directional and all, that ain't gonna work.

For what is worth I've got some of the 2 cat 6 wire baluns for HDMI and tried short Redmere cables like patch cables and had issues as in no video or audio. Switched back to standard cables from Monoprice and worked fine.

IS there a solution for when the active cable IS backwards? I have a rarely used one in wall for laptop connection that ended up being backwards. Laptop should be SOURCE not display. Anything that can be added to fix it?

I have found that the audio quest wires (which have directional arrows) will sometimes work in reverse depending on their length. However, if you have a large ferrite sized piece on the end of the display side like the perfect path wire, and you are in reverse, you're out of luck. I hope you pulled a cat5/6 with that HDMI because it's worthless in reverse.

The solution? A balun, repull the wire, or cut and splice. Why not cut the wire, because at that point, the cable is a pull string at best if you can't reverse it.

Recent trim out : we prewired a Binary 50ft active HDMI which did not work when we connected a Samsung 32" LED to a Verizon cable box - No picture, just a blue screen.

We assumed the cable had been damaged, and planned to install a Balun as the solution. On a hunch, we figured we'd try the 1 x 2 HDMI splitter solution first, sure enough - picture came right up.

Conduit guys. I now use it in every job where it is not a staight drop down the wall. All long runs or hard access get a conduit and not prewired with a cable. sorry this does not answer your question but it might next time.

Wow....now that is interesting....We have had a couple "fail" over time (worked and then stopped) but never had one bad from the get go. We got bit with the HdBT issue with the Verizon Cisco boxes but those NEVER worked....would hate to see another variable problem enter the equation. We have installed literally hundreds of these active cables and just have not seen it....yet

That's pretty scary. Raced Ferraris but switched back to the Yugo and actually won.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I'm not familiar with this. Can you post a link or vid to what you are taking about ?
