Right now I have a set of Polk Audio RTI-A3 powered by an old onkyo AVR and also have a 10" Polk Audio sub. I would like to do away with these as they are "cheap" They don't sound bad but considering what ive been able to hear they arent cutting it any more. I am also pretty sure the crossover went in one of them, as the left speaker is just "off" paired to another amp i have laying around it is still off. I was thinking about using a marantz PM8005 amp i have laying around from a deadbeat customer. After that im not sure where to go for speakers. This isnt my area of expertise. I like a "warm" tone and absolutely cannot be "bright" The type of music i listen to is rock, classic rock, alternative, punk some hip hop and a little bit of "top 40" my source for music is my computer, but i have a really nice soundcard with digital out (also can do stereo) [Link: asus.com]They sit on my desk so they cant be towers, will probably add a james sub or maybe a JL E-series to help round out the low end as money allows. Thanks

The last computer speaker setup we did consisted of Monitor PL100's connected to a Rogue Audio Hydra amp. Will that fit the bill? No YouPorn required for arousal.

I have a set of Triad InRoom Gold Omni, with an old Denon amplifier on them. Sounds good. Also have (2) 2" thick 2'x2' fiberglass panels on the wall right behind them.
The question to start with would be: What speaker brands do you have access to? I'm sure you have a dozen or so you 'can' get (like most of us). So what are they and we can start scratching off the list.

If I was looking for a computer setup I would look at the following (paired with the new JL 8" sub) in no particular order: - Kef LS50 (amazing nearfield speakers)
- MA GX50
- Totem Kin Mini
I am using a pair of the E110 subs in my open concept family room and can say that it would be overkill for a small office setup. Awesome, but overkill.

Vanatoo powered speakers rock. Use with Sonos Connect for more flexibility. I have my computer feed into the rca input on Sonos Connect and optical out to the Vanatoos. Great bass, no sub needed, but there is a sub out feed on the speakers if needed. Highly recommended for sound quality and take very little desk space. Try them and return if you don't like. Kef LS50 is a great recommendation. I also like the Sonus Faber Venere 2.0, for a warm sounding shelf type speaker.

Zu Cube and a tube amp of your choice. Peachtree gear pairs well with them.

Monitor Silver 2 from that Marantz integrated amp, fed by a rega or project turntable.

Brendon, get your ass out there and get some jobs on the scheduling board. You should not have enough free time in the office to worry about speakers.
BTW, let me know what you end up with and I'll get the same for my office ;-)

Has no on recommended an Episode 2 channel amp and Episode speakers? I almost did just that, but I was going to recommend one of their mini amps and a pair of the 8" rock speakers that they recently pulled from their shelves.

What's your budget for the speakers? Well, he spends most of his money on jeeps, jet skis and of course Festool!! So he probably only has $5 left.
