I installed my first 4K, curved Samsung yesterday (UN65HU7250) with a Sonos Playbar. (The TV went in the corner on the Sanus with the 28" arm, it looked pretty sweet actually). The customers wifi seemed to work ok for them with basic equipment. The TV and Blu Ray hopped on without issue.
My problem was when I went to set up the Playbar it would not connect whatsoever. My understanding in the new Sonos "wifi" world was it would just hop on as well.? It wouldn't do s**t for me through the app setup. On a side note, I could not get any TV audio through the Playbar either. I couldn't quite remember if it would work automatically via optical (tv audio out was turned on), or if it had to be set up first via the app for any functionality.
I'm going back on Wednesday to try with a Bridge regardless, but I thought I would throw it out there.
Thanks, Tom

The Sonos website states that the Playbar requires a standard SonosNet configuration.
So perhaps that have configured the Playbar so it will not even connect using WiFi.

The PLAYBAR itself can work on Wi-Fi. But you can not add a SUB or surround speakers to it without a cabled SONOS device. As for why the PLAYBAR did not connect, it may have been on pre 4.3 software and required a cabled firmware update first.

sonos units are not shipping with the new firmware until the end of November. you have to first hardwire it to update it first and it should connect via WIFI.
If you have to add the sub or rears you must use a bridge or the new super bridge to get it to connect.
To be honest though, im still not going to rely on the wiifi network for the first device. I believe this is a mistake on sonos's part. I will stick with the tried and true way, at least for the first year or so and then re evaluate.

Yeah, you know you're going to get a service call when the know it all Son-in-law visits and swaps out you customers router and then the Sonos drops off. $50 is cheap insurance in order to avoid all the other issues that can crop up with wifi.
