Lot's of confusion depending on who you ask.
New HR44 DVR, 2 C41 clients, 1 Samsung TV RVU.
My understanding is the only network connection necessary is at the HR44.
And for coax hookup it should be: Dish connects to multi switch with 4 coax Mutliswitch connects to power supply with 1 coax Power supply outputs to 4 way splitter 4 Way splitter one coax to each receiver; HR44, C41, C41, RVU
For ethernet: Just Router to HR44
Some say you need additional DECA, others say multiple DECA and no network on HR44. Can't seem to get the straight answer.

Just need ethernet to the HR44, then the clients will get it through the coax. As far as the Samsung with RVU, I am not sure about the ethernet.

The HR44 has built in wireless, no need to hard wire Ethernet. also you don't need the multiswitch or 4 wire LNB or Deca

Don't read my answer. Someone else will go into great detail as to why I am wrong rather than answer the original question... |

I spoke to a DirecTV rep who claimed that the HR44 should be wireless, and that hard wiring it to the router can confuse things. Sounds like BS to me, but wondering if anyone else has info on best practices. Seems to me they would want it hard wired to avoid the tech support calls when the wifi settings change....

DTV installer told me Tuesday to NOT hardwire a genie as the clients get mucked. Made ZERO sense to me as I much much much prefer EVERYTHING hardwired or wireless of course. I still think its bunk. What the hell can the difference be that makes hardwired worse??

If it's going to try to connect wirelessly and you can't make it stop, then if it doesn't connect part of it will be using resources trying over and over to connect. If it does connect wirelessly, you'll have two connections to a router, which causes problems.

we always hook up ethernet to the hr34 or 44. you will not need a deca if you do this. The clients will get their internet through the coax. but the samsung will need a ethernet to it also
you will be using a swm setup so you will only need 1 wire to dish (we run 2) and the correct LNB. Coax from dish to your splitter and out from splitter to your genie and clients
we never let the genies do wireless. If the Ethernet cant go straight to genie we set up a deca.
