Timing is everything too. Worked for a place , good place to work, paid well. Memo comes down from upstairs, 401K suspended until further notice. Not two hours latter the hauler shows up and drops off a 250k MB AMG track car and he wants us all to go out and oogle over it. Was not In the mood at the time as was everybody else, about 200 people.
The difference with me was that night I put it into perspective and went to work the next day and rock and rolled. Everybody else chose to dwell on it everyday for a solid month, some a lot longer.
Put that shit into perspective and either move forward or move on, don't waste any time doing it.

... You want to tell me we need to get some cash flow. BS. Yes we have proof. Happens daily. We do all of the close outs for the day, see the account activity. OK, you see the input side, do you see the output side? Bills for gear and supplies, vehicle expenses, rent, utilities... it goes out fast too! Just saying there are two sides of the equation!! Anyone who has had a business for several years has likely had money in abundance for a season, then followed by a season of not knowing if the next insurance/tax/payroll will get covered.

There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions. |

And truly what your boss does is none of your business.
Just as you would tell him your personal spending habits are none of his business.
The reason he/she is in business is the prospect of a better life for their family.
If he/she buys stuff its their prerogative and none of your business. Using the business is part of that privilege.
Your an employee, if the pay is good, do a good job and quit worrying about what some one else is doing, its out of your control.
If you don't like being an employee, start your own shop.
I guarantee you your opinions of what your boss is doing will change!
In my world of employment and living on commission, hands down 100% of the time the ones that make the most money pay absolutely no attention whatsoever to what the others are making, no time for it. The ones that make the least are constantly poking their nose in what the others are making/doing and whining its not fair.
Sack up and do your job to the ultimate pay attention to the task at hand, the bosses business is just that, his business, not yours.
If you are not happy, get help or move on.
Start your own shop or find a new place to work.
I have owned my own business before and do not wish to do so again. I want to get into a kick ass busy AV company that is professional and does nothing but Rock and Roll.
What the owner does I don't care as long as the agreed upon pay/benefits are met.
Pretty simple,actually.
If you are not happy at your current job and are looking then I recommend that you go in elbows and assholes with a smile everyday and continue your search.
This way you might be able to salvage a usable reference out of the deal.
Trust me you NEVER know when you will need that reference, even if you despise your boss.
Concentrate on your self and quit harping on things you cannot control.

Oh, I agree 1000%
I just find a lot of guys think that if a boss spends a cent on himself, he is somehow stealing from the company or the employees. I hear similar rants from guys of many different types of businesses and I just shake my head. I hear this all the time. Guess what? The owner of the company can do whatever he wants with the money that the company brings in. Even if he takes the clients deposit and spends it all on hookers and licorice...it's his business. Literally. If you are an employee that is annoyed by this...maybe go work somewhere else? Or start your own business where you can pay yourself $5 an hour so that you can reinvest it all back into the company.

THEN DON"T WORK FOR THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not a difficult concept. Here is another revolutionary concept, if they don't pay you enough for you to be comfortable. Move on! I know, another one right?!?!
I'm not necessarily "typing loudly" at you but my comment was made more in general.
The thing people don't understand is that it's the narcissists who are the ones who are willing to take the chances. It's the odd personalities who somehow get people to buy into their concept. Again, if it's not a good fit, move on.
I've never once had a problem getting a job, maintaining a job, or excelling at a job. Maybe that came off a little too arrogant.....
I'm just getting more irritated with the latest cultural thinking of how bosses should be limited on how much they make and they should give everything back to their employees. As mentioned, go start and business and you'll see how quickly you change you mind. Done venting!
Congrats Bruce?!?!?!!!!?!!!! I agree with this about 99.9%. My only issue is with mega corporations that write everything off at tax time and extend their hands for every bit of corporate welfare they can lobby their way. My attitude is that you shouldn't have billions in profit with a work force that qualifies for food stamps. It would be nice to not have to supplement income by feeding the employees of companies like Walmart and McDonalds with my tax dollars.

Even if he takes the clients deposit and spends it all on hookers and licorice...it's his business. Literally. Where did I say take money for deposits to spend on what he wants, be it hookers, licorice or cars. Show me ONE employee that has looked at the books and determined that the employer has taken funds from the business meant for payroll, deposit money or other money, and not from his rightful draw? You can't and you won't. All these employees complain about the boss spending money thinking they deserve the money themselves. I've heard the same crap from my brother about his previous bosses. The same boss he bitched about buying an R8, was paying him to spread chemicals on lawns and other greenery. What was my brother doing instead? He took the truck home every day and sat on his ass. So which one was stealing from the company? The one who bought himself a nice car with the money he earned from his successful business or the employee who was getting a paycheck to do work he was not doing? Fact is there are bad eggs on both sides, however I see far more employees taking advantage than employers. Why? Because employees have nothing to lost. They lose their job they just get another one. MOST employers are VERY careful about how they do things because the law is rarely on their side if and when something goes down. If I find out my employee is stealing off the truck and sitting at home rather then going and doing his job, I have to create a papertrail of proof just to be able to let him go, and I STILL may have to pay for into his unemployment.

My argument is that these mega corporations DO provide jobs for thousands of people and contribute more than anyone can calculate in payroll taxes, property taxes, and the tens of thousands of jobs they create to support "their" thousands of employees. The only flip side is if they become a monopoly, then they have the power to squeeze out the little guy which allows them to do whatever the hell they want. That's where things get ugly.
