doing some browsing and came across this [Link: thingcharger.com]Looks like a pretty good idea for kitchens (15A plugs) or bedrooms that have nightstand height outlets. Doesn't seem like a practical solution for standard height outlets though

The video has an unrealistic outlet placement. No one has one that high up with nothing above it. Even the pic at the bottom has it much higher than normal. It could be cool after the electrician has installed a new outlet for you.

The concept is cool. Hope they have one for horizontal outlets.

In addition to what Mac said there could also be a problem with cases. The connector has to fit flush for the device to charge so if a customer is using a case the connector would have to be raised to compensate for the thickness of the case. For those not using a case or a thin case the device will not sit flush with the top of the outlet and will essentially be balancing with all of its weight on the connector. How long before the solder joint on the devices connector breaks?

I saw this when I was doing some online Christmas shopping last year but I don't think it was shipping yet. Had it been, I probably would have bought it as a gift.
The more I think about it though, the more I tend to think it might be one of those products that looks good "on paper", but when you get it in and try and use it practically, it falls a little short (like what was mentioned with the case).
Too bad I wasn't able to buy it. It would have been nice to have a beta tester for it:-)

I just noticed that the "crowd fund" thing on the right is fake. It's just a link to place a pre-order page. I'll bet the amount is fake. It's obvious they are trying to make themselves look like they have tens of thousands of backers who believe in the product. No matter what link you choose "Choose 1 Choose 2 Choose 3" etc...it all takes you to the same page.

Did you hear the Woosh as that one went over some heads? That's okay. As I told my kids for years when they looked at me in bewilderment, I say these for myself. If someone else gets them, well that's great, too.

BS product. Next. Actually that number is being fed from their 2013 indiegogo campaign. But until I can read some amazon reviews, it goes on the "huh, cool idea" list. I do think the case thing is a killer though, This would be great for my mother, but I'm not about to buy it when I can't find a single hands on review that isn't based off of a press release.

The comments section there (nice find) is pretty much "when will it ship" so for now its hard to tell what the reviews will be like.

I could only really use it in my kitchen, but since most of my walls are pony walls with granite counter top that extends beyond the pony walls, I would have to stack at least two to clear the overhang. Like you guys said, nice idea on paper...

Someone was talking about a charging "box" or "tub" or "bin" that used inductive charging. You just toss all your crap in it and it sorts it out and charges it all at once. I think this is the best thing for the family. When you get home, you "bin" your phone, tablet, stupid smart watch, etc. and pick it up again in the morning on your way out. :)

i want to see an installed version that "pops out" like those legrand outlets. it has a duplex outlet on front just like a regular outlet, press it in and it pops out to reveal connector on top to set device on.
