Yes. Sony will have new 4k XBRs in a couple of months and they have an end-to-end native 4k content distribution system.

The top end models have full-array local dimming LEDs.

Anyone know if is Sony planning to continue to create players that are incompatible with other manufacturer's displays?

Sell them now while there is still some margin in them.

My sales history leads otherwise. Isn't the margin best on new product? When it hits Magnolia at full retail?

Yes, but my point is that with every 4k "evolution", prices are going drop and drop and drop until you can buy them at best buy for less than your cost. :) So maybe wait a few months and sell them the new model immediately. :)

Yes. The video sever is to store content downloaded from the Sony Entertainment Network. What's the problem with that?

No insight on nextgen, but we have already installed 3 4K sets and are scheduled to do another 3.

In addition we have 2 Crestron DM systems we are upgrading to 4K as soon as the equipment is released.

Do they prefer the name on the box or the content they're watching?

Right now only Sony has a solution for that. Blame Samsung for nothing but upconverted 1080p.

All of the XBR models are 4k, the FMP-X1 is the hard drive storage for the downloaded content, it comes with 10 movies already loaded and there is more and more on the store all of the time.

I don't care how much margin is in that 4k box. That thing is a pile of crap.

The next gen products coming out this year are a mixed bag and not necessarily an improvement. That said, having HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 support will be essential in the future and with most vendors, this is coming in the second gen products (Sony excluded).

And yes, the bottom may fall out of this quick if Vizio indeed delivers on these TVs, with better fidelity (local dimming) and much lower retail price.

It is out.

Well, hits the streets 4-1-14.
We are already talking to a client who's system is in progress (not commissioned yet) about doing it.

Unlike 3D, I think 4K is going to catch on.

customer wants, customer has cash, customer gets....stop thinking with your own pocket book. Let them worry about what to change in the future, because there will ALWAYS be the next new thing
