A few months back I prewired a 3500sqft house for phone, data, TV, sat, whole house audio, surround sound & TV over fire place. Originally I was going to wire everything to a central coat closet so I could (or another installer) could do a nice rack in there. Well the Builder insisted I wire everything to the so called "entertainment center" in a 12" deep niche to the right of the fireplace (except the phone, data & coax...that is in a can in the closet. Anyways builder wanted all speaker wire there. After a few conversations he still wanted it there so that's where I put it. He Sold the house and I was walking through with the customer and he wants everything in the coat closet lol...FML
Knowing that Gold went up a few K makes me think "well now I have to do a better job on selling more equipment".

You-know-who will be here in a minute to tell you that you should have done it the way you wanted in the first place.

Why are we so proud of what we do, and so emotionally connected to our work, that we don't take the GC's money, then take the HO's money, and be content that this is how the world works?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Because some of us actually care that the job is done right.

It drives me nuts doing something that I know is wrong. I recently wired what I was told is a spec house in an exclusive country club. We were given a ridiculously low budget that meant volume knobs and all zones doing the same source. TV and speaker placements were pretty much determined by the architect. After multiple attempts to explain why it was wrong, we did it. Literally as I was packing my wire in the van after we finished, I found out the house is actually going to be the home of the club's owner for a couple years until he builds what he really wants.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, the living room is going to have two 55" TVs in armoirs. One will sit on each side of the fireplace.
