Went to a future customers house to give an estimate for an outdoor TV install. Customer wants a 50" on a ceiling mount covering a window. Electrical & coax are in place. He wants to split the signal off a DirecTV box inside the house. Easy peezy, I begin to explain to him we would need an HDMI splitter & he stops me & says "you mean a coax splitter?" I explained to him the difference etc. & we needed HDMI not coax to get HD outside. He then showed me an estimate he got this morning. Sure enough my competitor was only charging for a wall mount bracket, 1 hour of labor & a coax splitter LOL.

First off the H24 DirecTV box doesn't have a coax output & even if it did, he wouldn't be able to get HD. HD seemed to be a big deal to the customer anyways since he mentioned it.

Not sure what he was thinking, unless there's some kind of technology I'm not aware of?

Does he have a Genie? Is the TV a newer Samsung or Sony with RVU capability? Maybe the other guy is planning on using a SWM splitter and using the TV as the client?

OR, he is an idiot and thinks the DirecTV box has an RF output like they used to. Or he is going to mount a new DTV receiver behind the TV...which also makes him an idiot. Some people I tell ya.

Customer has not bought a TV yet & no genie in the system. He's been around for awhile so not really sure if he even did a site visit or thought the thin black boxes were TW cable boxes lol
