Does anyone know if the Nuvo In-Wall ipod dock is still available? I asked my disty and he believes they are disco'd. I have a job in a salon in which they want to have separate ipod docks in each of the 4 massage rooms so the client and/or therapist can use their own ipod, and they'd prefer to have them installed on the wall. They are going with a basic Nuvo Essentia system since they do not wish to have any streaming audio.

I think they are hard to come by.

Have you thought about an individual Airport Express for each room as sources and Airplay. I have done it on a few recent Nuvo jobs and clients liked it.

Done once with a Channel vision piece. Mounted next to NuVo touchpad. Still need a Local Source Input module.

This would be a bit more difficult as a) clients would have to jump on the salons network and b) how would we limit clients to access airplay on just that room, unless we setup a different SSID per room.

a) Could create a guest network. Nice for their clients while waiting.

b) True. Could you not use the Airplay Speaker Password in each Apple Express ?

ex.
SSID: Guest. Apple Express 1. Airplay Speaker Password: Room 1
SSID: Guest. Apple Express 2. Airplay Speaker Password: Room 2

Not a perfect solution by any means.

but...

Have you considered that with the In Wall Ipod dock you can't dock IPhone 5s and in a lot of cases the client would have to take their phone out of the case to dock.

Are the regular nuvo ipod docks still available? If so, you can customize amount. We've done it in the past.

Sometimes you just have to keep it simple. 1/8" cable connected to a wall jack. Works with anyones android or ios phone or tablet.

^^^ Bingo!! We have a winner.

If they want an inwall unit of some sort, buy one of the low voltage TV boxes, install 1/8" female jack or just use a cord and line the bottom with some padding.

Now you have an inwall box that can hold just about any Iphone, Ipod, phone and maybe a tablet with some maneuvering.

single gang 1/8" female jack keystone wallplate above a wall-mount shelf would be pretty easy, too

I don't know how far the unamplified line-level output would travel, though.
