Client has an old Avaya 1408 with about ten phones on it.

One phone's display light stays on, and of course it's the one next to the wife's side of the bed. The light seems to turn off randomly, and he'd like to know how to turn it off on purpose so it doesn't keep her awake, also randomly.

I downloaded the manual and found about thirty instances of the word "display" in the first 21 (of 118 pages) and decided at that point to ask you guys if you know about it.

It's not, or not necessarily, an issue of turning the display off. The instructions for turning the display off don't mention the light at all, so who knows?

The client tells me that all phones in the house are labeled identically, so he can always switch out a couple of them. Knowing how to do this is just so much more elegant!

Anyone know how to switch that light off?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

My method involves a drill.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.
