Maybe he's referring to the white/light jacket being affected by UV. Do you need UV resistant PVC, Ernie?

Yes, preferably it should be UV resistant. I didn't think to research whether UV resistance is only available in some colors. The ten year old cables I run across seem to be pretty much the same stiff matte finish plastic whether they are white, black, or beige, so it was not obvious.
