For all you small business owners of any type out there. What software suite are you running to run your business
I don't mean quick books .... Or d-tools. And salesforce is great for sales...
But what about everything else?
I have some experience with some and I'm just looking for ideas And I want to leave what I'm using out of the equation
Thanks

Started using MYOB when it was rated better than Quick Books and came on floppy discs. Its now called Account Edge. My version is from 2008 and does what I need it to do. At the end of the year I print out a chart of accounts and hand it to my CPA, works for him. http://accountedge.com/

I'd be curious what every one is doing for operations as well.
My boss and I have looked at apps like Podio all the way to custom software/database without coming up with something that fits our needs and budget.

Not sure but that guy on CEpro that was selling his solution sounds cool. D-tools or someone should buy it from him and make it affordable to the masses.

My guess is that the most exotic software being used by Ci's will be quick books , d tools, or some like system.
My guess is only the very largest integrators will be using some kind of integrated software suite to manage the operations of the business. I'd also guess very few are using done kind of CRM such as salesforce either
That's why my op I stated owners of any kind of business.

Ed, I'm not going to get into all of the details, but check out Xero. I've been using it since the beginning of the year, along with another member.
I like it a lot. However, it's web-based, and I don't know if you're looking for something web based.
I like it a lot, I'm so happy to be clear of Quickbooks it gives me a boner.

You can be up and running pretty quickly with it, you can add your inventory with a .csv file, that saves quite a bit of time. Once you've got your inventory items set up. (make sure you have a valid description of them), there' really no reason whatsoever to print up an invoice for small installations.
For example, I jump in the car, drive over to installation. Hang a TV, play bar, yada yada yada, When I'm done, I grab my phone, make the invoice on the app. Show customer the invoice, they pay me using Square or a check, I email them the invoice with my phone. Done. It automatically updates back at the office on the computer.
You can also track specific things...Say for example, monthly fuel use. You can link your bank accounts, it'll automatically set sync, all you have to do is reconcile the accounts. Easy.
You can also link it with Proposal software. Thats' when things start to get really interesting.

Podio is pretty cool. You add the apps, configure them, and then link them with formulas.
I have set up a pretty cool operations management template with times heets doing labour tracking, etc. but as simple as it is, I think the learning curve will be too steep to pitch it to my boss and our crew of knuckle dragging 'lectricians.

its the operations end i am unsure of... accounting is accounting...
im more concerned with production scheduling, sales and crm, inventory management, build orders, shipping, receiving... the operations end...
it would be easy to just goto the stand buys... quickbooks, access, salesforce... but i dont want to fall into that trap.
im not at liberty to talk just yet... but i will be building something from the ground up...
