I have a B&K CT 600.1 and am trying to modify some settings using a remote control (B&K MZ-128). The CT 600.1 doesn't seem to have an IR input on the front panel though. It is a solid black front cover with a power button and one LED light. Does anyone know if you can control this thing with a remote?

You can, but you have to use an external IR sensor. The keypads have IR sensors in them. Or there are some ways to feed IR into the back of the unit.

There is an IR input on the back. It can take IR from a 3rd party IR connecting block, hooked to an IR receiver....or IR from a 3rd party control base station (like URC or RTI).

You can even send IR through the keypad connections, or through their in wall keypads.

If you'll read the manual, it is pretty thorough, it explains quite a bit.

FINS beat me to much of this

What exactly are you trying to modify with a remote? are you trying to control one zone? all zones?

B&K's can be programmed for any one of 128 different code sets. hope you got some time to figure out which ones the original installer used. Or use a IR receiver for each zone and use the universal codeset and an IR router....

Thank you! I can control the CT600.1 from one of the keypads, but I'm still having trouble... I want to go into the 'Menu' screen to turn off page/event in some zones. I connected a TV monitor to the CT600.1 Zone A Output. I press the "Menu" button on the MX-128 remote, but the TV does not display the "Menu" screen. What am I missing?

Thanks!

I don't think there is an onscreen GUI.

I think you need a copy of the BK Suite software, and to read the very long pdf manual and then come back here to ask specific questions, otherwise you're in for a very long a winding road, and you will start wearing us out.

To connect to your CT600.1 with the BK Suite program, you will also need the B&K supplied DB9 to RJ45 adapter............... and a USB to DB9 adapter (unless your PC has a com port)

FP left out a couple things. Also make sure you have a rabbits foot, a crucifix, and a prayer rug.

thats what I was afraid of. As others have mentioned, there is no OSD or menu based setup of any kind on the B&K Multi-room boxes. Its all programmed via CSuite.

I dont remeber off hand if you can suck the program out... I think you can..

Good news is that B&K/ATI left the old site up and the software and directions to make a serial adaptor are easy to find.

bad news is that they is one of the worst programming "suites" I ever had the displeasure of experiencing. I hope you have a lot of free time....

In the manual for the CT610, it says you can use the remote to go through a manual on an external monitor using zone A video out. When I press "menu" on the remote at one of the keypads nothing happens. It is a simple menu with the headings:

MAIN MENU
1 Zone Operation
2 Zone Favorite Presets
3 Audio/Video System Setup
4 Control System Setup
5 Memory Backup/Restore
6 System Status
↑↓ next item SEL select
MENU exit menu system

You don't have a 610. You said you have a 600.1

Yes I do have the 600.1 but I was hoping it would be the same as the 610 but I guess I'm out of luck... Ugh. I guess there is no GUI menu on the 600.1.

Actually the 600.1 does have a GUI menu, I just had to switch the remote control to code set 0-1-1 and I was able to view the menu on Zone A output. Now to figure out the menu settings...
