I cranked up the surrounds as high as they would go, and with a DVD playing the surround was just adequately loud enough. With music playing I could barely hear them.

Anyone else have similar results?

I believe their DSP method is similar to PLII....which, if you listen to 2 ch. material using that DSP, not much from the surrounds either. Are you using a Dolby Digital 5.1 source as your reference or do you have one of the many TVs that will not pass through that type of signal? :P
