When I was shopping last year, I ended up with a Panny 55UT50 for $900. Kills any 55" LED out there. If you are that worried about power consumption, you better replace your other appliances, heater, A/C unit, etc first. TVs draw very little $$ if you use them normally. I cannot remember what my Panny's energy star sticker said on it. $24/year maybe? Their figures are based on 5 hours per day IIRC. :) Do not let your electric bill do your TV shopping for you is what I am getting at.

I couldn't care less about the power consumption of the plasma but some of those things can heat up a room like a small fireplace! Im WAY over plasma.

went to worst buy and took a look at TV's my first choice would be the 60" VT60 but even though everyone loves the TV it does seem to have a issue with burn in...AND they are out of the business :(

Samsung 7100 Series looked like ass compared to the sony r550 series. i even turned off motion pluss and all that mumbo jumbo, played with the settings and nothing i did helped the sammy...Sony it is for us!

(ive always been a samsung guy)

I have a samsung PN60F8500 going in on Friday. Will report back what I think of it (if I remember). Haven't done a Samsung plasma in ages.

Ranger, when you stand in front of our Panny plasma you can get a sun tan. :)

Ernie, you DID respond but it was in the other thread where you suggested I move to this area with my question. Since I'm now RETIRED (yay, ME!) I try not to clutter up the pro areas with questions. :)

Current TV has basically one HDMI connection from AV receiver. The AV receiver does all the switching. DirecTV HR34, CD/DVD, iPod dock, all go to AV receiver. Oh and I have an antenna connection direct to the TV as well (so I can swing the antenna around and pick up hockey from Canada).

What I'm getting out of this conversation so far is to look at Sony and Samsung for LED TV. Not sure I would have looked at Sony if not for their mention here. I've had rotten luck with Sony AV receivers which is why I now have a Yamaha. But.... you guys doing this every day have the edge on me as far as what's good NOW so I'll have a look :)

Power consumption isn't DRIVING the decision. It's just a factor we're taking into consideration. I mean... it's holiday season and I think nothing of plugging in an extra refrigerator for all the extra food. Pretty sure THAT is using more power than a TV. :)

appreciate all input, guys. Thanks

You aren't cluttering up anything. This questions is fine for the pro section.

I really liked the Samsung 7100 and on Amazon they are pretty cost effective. I have not seen this Sony yet so give that a look.

Panasonic Plasma is always what I tell my clients... ST/VT/ZT Then if they want an led, it really does not matter.....
