I have been researching alot lately & almost threw down for a Sonance SLS system.

The system used to be just a pair of 10 year old Jamo 8" 2 way outdoor speakers powered by an Audiosource AMP-100, actually sounded ok.

Well, I beefed it up a bit! Added 2 more pair of Jamo's current 8" 2 way outdoor speakers, moved the existing speakers around some burying them about 10 feet up in the trees so they are hidden from obvious sight. 6 speakers in a giant circle (about a 100') around the firepit. I had an old Kicker Bass Station from new old stock from my car audio days (12" 4 ohm woofer in a giant bandpass enclosure) Stuffed that under the porch about 30 feet from the firepit. Used the AMP-100 bridged to run the sub & added an old elan z-1 6 channel amp to drive the 6 "satts".

It [email protected]#$n rocks!!! We had a party Saturday night & rocked the neighborhood! Luckily everyone lives on 2 1/2 acres each in the woods, but I am sure I kept a few people up... I wouldn't call it concert level, but damn it sounds awesome. Clean, clear, loud as shit!!! Sure am glad I didn't spend the dough on the SLS.

Awesome. Sometimes it's surprising what you can cobble together in a pinch.

That's cool, I'm curious where you set the crossover?. Sonance sets their xover at 100hz because the HF speakers are tiny

The full range satts are running full range, no crossover. For the sub I used an old car audio active crossover I had layin around. Dug around in a bin & came up with 12 volt wall wart that had enough current to drive it. Voila! No hum either, which I fully expected to have.

Oh & it was an Elan z660 amp for the satts.
