I came across this guys facebook page via Johnny Mota. [Link: facebook.com] He has some very different/cool looking speakers. His name is on the speakers so he appears to be a one man show. Any others out there? Or is this guy an anomaly?

Works of art for sure. Labor of love.

Does the world need yet another super high end expensive speaker though?

If produced I am sure he will sell "some" as these will not be an "everyman" speaker.

Audience, the company that makes that small full range driver sells a cute little desktop speaker in high gloss paint for about $1000/pr!

Cool Stuff.

Here is a guy I know from my hometown.

He doesn't do any crazy cabinet designs but his products sound incredible. I know at one time he sent a lot of his product over seas. Wish I had the space to do a 2 channel room.

There's a whole subculture of guys out there building speakers.  I've got a customer (I installed an antenna for him)  that builds some of the nicest speakers I've ever seen.

It's their hobby...and some of them are damn good at it.

In the greater Seattle area. there are tons of them. Years ago there was a great DIY speaker shop (it's still around) called SPEAKERLAB. They have inspired many generations of speaker building enthusiasts. Some of them build amazing stuff.

My hat's off to any fledgling speaker builders, but don't expect to get rich too soon!

When I got into the hobby, Madisound and Zalytron were the popular sources for drivers, crossover components, and odds and ends like high end terminal cups.

I still have all of the Speaker Builder magazines from the 80s.
