Money in music is made through concerts now a days. Artists release new music so they can go on tour. [Link: hollywoodreporter.com]

Uh, what has become of the music scene? I thought I'd tough it out for a while, but had to turn it off. Painful. Go watch the NSFW version of "Blurred Lines" on YouTube...You'll feel better [however briefly]. Or...Take a 12 pack of Bud and any Allman Brothers record tonight before bed.

Video Music Awards is something that 12 year old girls watch. How is it that you 12 year old girls are doing custom installation? Yeah, I found out the hard-way! It has been a decades since I last watched them and even then they were pretty bad, but now I agree it seems geared towards 12 year old girls. I'm sure a lot of parents were less than pleased with Miley's "performance" (if you could call it a performance)...

Miley should have stuck with the Hannah Montana schtick.

I came into this game for the action, the excitement. Go anywhere, travel light, get in, get out, wherever there's AV trouble, a man alone. |

Miley should have stuck with the Hannah Montana schtick. Yeah, not to sound like an old conservative geezer, but that was a tasteless, disgusting display devoid of entertainment value, and think of all the hundreds of thousands (or millions) of teen girls watching that exhibition. Plus, she looks like Justin Bieber with boobs! Not all that attractive although she thinks otherwise... A desperate no talent spoiled brat.

My 15 year old girl was asked to leave the room last night when that crap was on. I think it is essential as a parent to know exactly what is going on in the world. I am now clearly informed with what is going on in the music industry and can help make an educated decision on what my kids will be allowed to listen to and support. after last night, none of them are worth buying or supporting.
The CMA's didn't have that crap going on. I was hoping to see foo fighters, or actual bands with music. not gonna happen Me being the C&W Nazi that I am: So you're suggesting that there is some type of artistic merit to modern C&W? It's just as bad as that crap the was on MTC last night. What part of this would you like to debate?... the mindless drivel that is modern C&W, or the mindless drivel that is modern hip-hop pop. It's like asking if you'd prefer to be stabbed or shot. And whoever commented that Timberlake was the only one out there with any talent. I agree, but he sold his soul by being there and that makes him an accomplice. He should stick to acting, which is where he really shines. He could be the next Tom Cruise, or Matt Damon, or... that failing.. the next Mr. Bean

I agree about current C&W commercial crap. Listen to Gram Parsons, Emmylou Harris or Lucinda Williams... Timberlake - Over rated teeny bop star. Robin Thicke... hand me the throw-up bucket!

MTV long ago lost any credibility it had to stage an awards event for music. I'm having a hard time even trying to remember the last time I cared or paid attention to the fact that they were on. It's sad too, because back in the day, it was a decent place to check out some good live performances. MTV sucks @ss...can't remember the last time i even turned the channel on. for a real music channel, check out Palladia -> http://www.palladia.tv/. This channel has a lot of great concerts and shows.

As far as the term "Music Critic" is concerned. The great FZ once said
“Writing about music is like dancing about architecture.”
Oh yeah, Palladia is owned by Viacom. The parent company of MTV. So they know exactly what they are doing. I did some systems at the Viacom offices in NYC and they run like a Swiss watch and make a boatload of money. They don't are about music. they care about shareholders.
