Do the Yamaha players have Pandora built in? I have a client that has an older system with all Component cabling that is not willing to upgrade yet, but wants to add streaming services. I know we can add Netflix with the Yamaha, but what about Pandora. Of course they don't want to step up to an Oppo, but it may be their only choice if Yamaha does not offer it.

The Aventage unit we did, did not have it from what I recall.
Does Oppo still offer a BDP with component video out? Sounds like he's forced his own hand by not willing to change over to HDMI.

Thanks Chris. I guess you are correct. Not sure where I got the idea the BDp-103 had Component out. Well this will make it easier. Either pay or forget it.

Yamaha BD-A1020 has component and if you use the Roku Streaming Stick, it will have Pandora.

Thanks for the info. Something to consider. I'm really trying to push them to upgrade at this point as it will be difficult moving forward if they wish to add anything at any point.

I recently decided to start designing systems where the BDP is for playing discs, and using Roku, Apple TV, and sonos for streaming services. Picking which ones to use depending on the client's needs. I'm tired of watching customer's eyes gloss over as they try to absorb how to navigate the bluray player options.

I like this idea.

Roku and AppleTV have big bright icons for each service on their main page. And while some have said their roku needs to be rebooted occasionally, so do Samsung BDP's if the customer forgets to exit the smart hub

I am not proposing a bdp for the streaming, but rather looking for one that offers component output. I proposed we upgrade their audio system from an old Niles keypad based distributed audio to Sonos. The bdp was going to stream Netflix, Vudu and other available video streaming services. If we upgrade their system to one that utilizes HDMI, we will do either an AppleTV (most likely) or Roku plus the Sonos.

If any BDP does have component out, isn't it only going to output 480?

I do the same.

TV is for displaying the image
BRD player is for round silver things.
Appletv and/or Roku is for streaming content.
