I want to feed an Apple TV into a local Yamaha A/V receiver, but I also want to feed a composite video signal from that same Apple TV into a modulator that goes throughout the house. Yes, you heard me right, a modulator. Even though the picture is crap, the customer still wants to be able to feed like 7 TV's around the house with his existing modulator. He likes to play music videos from his iTunes library on all his TV's and doesn't want to bump it up to something like Zeevee. I could use the Remote app and an older Apple TV (I already have a component to composite converter for that), but I would like the best of both worlds - Airplay using the newer Apple TV and the distributed option.

My other option is an HDMI splitter - just not sure the converter will work coming off the splitter. I guess I can just try it at home...

Any suggestions are appreciated!

that only does audio.  he needs composite video as well.

the only time i tried to convert hdmi to composite video, i used an adapter from Gefen and it didn't work.   i believe it was because the gefen unit was not HDCP compliant.

you will probably have to use an HDMI splitter with an HD Fury to convert HDMI to component.  then you can use one of the many available component to composite scalers on the market.   science projects are fun!

from your link:
Note: This HDMI to Composite / S-Video Converter is NOT-HDCP compatible and will not work with HDCP Devices such as Cable/Sat Boxes, DVD players, AppleTVs, etc!

this is the situation i ran into with the gefen piece.

This looks like it has the features that you want. It does not say if its HDCP compliant or not.

Sometimes, you really need to say "I'm sorry Mr. Customer, It just doesnt work that way anymore."
