Patch all the holes up and install a phone system.

How many conductors at each station and are they home run to the main? If you have at least 6 conductors and all home run you can do an M&S DMC system which is still a pretty lame intercom/doorbell/radio/cd (or iPod) system but it is a vast improvement over the current Nutone. They have trim kits to fill in the holes that are currently larger than the replacement units but they look like crap so the couple times we've done this we had our drywall guys come in and make the holes the proper sizes and then the room stations and main unit look much better (smaller devices).
