A bunch of you guys talk highly about Ethereal - I've never used them. I need to pick up a few 50' HDMI cables quickly - my distributor has them. 50' HDMI that I've never used scares me. What's the consensus on the MHXHDME15?

Ethereal is the only cable I use at this point unless I happen to run out, which case I pick up a key digital and then have problems.

I have used the mhx 15m many times with no issues.

The MHX cables use the reemere chip in the head. I believe the EHD cables use ethereal's own chipset in the head. The same as their DAD if I understood Brent correctly. I trust their own chip more than he redmere

Fins is damn close but it is the MHY that has the Redmere, MHX is passive.

As the Ethereal person responsible for both product AND the tech support, I have a lot of faith in these cables.
Here are some thoughts to ponder.

Do you need 3D?
No=MHX
Yes=MHY

Do you need 4K?
No=MHX
Yes=MHY

Are you supporting only 1080P?
Yes=MHX
Yes=MHY

Do you want really good tech support?
Yes=MHX
Yes=MHY
(OK this one is just bragging)

Do you want the best possible cable on the market period?
No=MHX (damn good but not the best)
No=MHY (even better but still not the best)
Yes=EHD (Yes, it is that good).

There is of course some fun'n going on here, but I do have a lot of faith in our cables.

The tech support is the best in the HDMI arena. About a year ago I had to use another brand of balun because I could get it same day. On that system I recently had a problem with no picture at the TV. I also couldn't get picture out of the balun on that same manufacturers LCD test panel. Their tech support had me go through a punch list of trouble shooting (All of which I had already done) before issuing an RMA. It reminded me if calling directv for a problem.

Brent talks to you like you are a big boy and gets to the point. He doesn't waste your time and can usually identify the problem at yor first description. That is unless I don't first tell him the old cable has a 90 degree kink at the plug

That's the confirmation I'm looking for, thanks.

Thanks Brent, I don't need 3D or 4K. Just 1080p straight from Comcast rcvr to Samsung LED. If you're confident with the passive MHX 50' I'll give it a shot.

Yes and thank you.
Note about Samsung,
Always use input #2, it is the only straight line trace on the input PCB and will have the least amount of timing errors.

Brent helped me out with a problem and recommended the EHD cable and it fixed a problem that had taken me several months to troubleshoot.

My only regret was not calling him when the issue started.

William thank you.
One of the things that age and exoerience has taught me is that an "CI" I am not omnepatent. On the site I give myself 15 minutes to slove an install problem if I have not done so by then I call tech. support (they should after all know more than me) sometimes just talking it thru to someone else allows you to see the problem.

BTW: My first statement to the support guy is "I am an idiot and this is probrably my fault, please help?"
This usually disarms them, puts them on my side and on the rare time when it is a hardware problem they are more helpful.
Works much better than opening with "this fxxking piece of Sxxt is driving me crazy, fix it"

But HDMI1 is the only input on the damned display that supports ALL resolutions. If you have a computer as well as consumer video resolutions, as well as the Samsung, what then old wise one?
