I know a few of you are near concrete tourest hell in pigeon forge/Gatlinburg. Fortunately we have been doing all of the nature stuff and enjoying all of the non "tourist" crap but i have yet to come across any good breweries or fun eateries in this concrete jungle?
I hear ashville is the place to go for all of that kind of stuff but its a little too far :(
Ive asked a few of the locals and everyone just kind of shruggs their shoulders or "try smokey mountain brewery" in downtown g-burg. When i walked by last night to check it out it looked like they were either closed or had just went out of business so i was kind of bummed about that.
There has to be something!!
BTW- "Ole smokey moonshine" doesnt count. Aside from the free tasting that's another tourist trap :(

I feel for ya. That's one of the worst touristy places in America.
Crass commercialism at it's worst.

I pack beer and wine, and drink at the cabin, avoiding the drinking and driving issue.
I recall a dinner at a sports bar, near Dollywood - Blue something? Google says it was the Blue Moose. Average beer selection, OK wings.
Enjoy the hot tub, and the stars, with a cold one.

What the hell are you doing in the White Trash Alps? I'm not a beer drinker. I prefer spirits. But I was down there a few years ago and ate at Smokey Mountain Brewery. And they had a steak marinated in their red ale that was really good (which shocked me because finding a decent meal down there is almost impossible. There is another smokey mountain brewery in Pigeon Forge. Going from gatlinburg to pigeon forge it will be on the left in a little outlet complex. [Link: smoky-mtn-brewery.com]But keep in mind, everything down there is a tourist trap.

You say moonshine like its a bad thing. There's as much or more of an art to good shine as there is to beer.

You guys can call Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge what you want, but I have always had fun every time I have ever been there. My daughter loves it, thats what makes it fun for me!! What place that draws people to attractions from all over the country isnt touristy?
