The current setup needs modified because the number of speakers now exceeds what the Connect Amp is designed to drive.

I wanted to replace with a Sonos Connect and Multi room (8 channel) amplifier. problem is there is a nice powered sub and the Connect doesn't have a Sub Out.

Should I keep the Sonos Amp and add a High-> Low converter that takes speaker level in and outputs Variable line level? If so, what is the go to piece for this?

Xantech has a piece but it only handles 35W/channel and the Sonos is 55W/channel.

Thanks for reading.

That link took me to attenuators. Are you saying use the attenuators out of a Connect and use the Xantech piece?

What about Audiocontrol?

Find a decent active crossover.

My favorite combo
Sonos connect -> audiocontrol 1280eq -> triad sub amp

You could use a niles 1230 or 1260 in place of the aq. Those amps even have a common or bus in and out to simplify the hookup. Bus out to your line level sub (assuming its stereo in).

There were also high pass/low pass passive crossover devices.

The amp I'm using has loop outs. What is the consensus on sending full range into the sub?

You can send full range to the sub if it has a built in crossover. Does your amp for the main speakers have a crossover as well? In a system with a sub it is best to limit the low frequency’s going to the main speakers so they are not trying to produce frequency’s they were not designed to produce. Audiocontrol makes a crossover that will do what you need, it is in the car stereo parts.

^^^ this

And you can add a basic behringer or Peavey Xover for $100 if the sub is lacking.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.
