It's interesting to hear people say it's more warm and musical. This goes back to where I mentioned the specs on paper do, and don't make a difference. Two seemingly similar amps certainly can sound different, and I have heard that in the past. I didn't look into the warranty. Three years is awesome vs. one year. That by itself is a strong selling point.
Thanks for the banter.

Denon is not a one year warranty AVR. Where did that come from?
You will never be able to take two similar brands and price points and buy the better one based on specs. Specs are of nominal value in better brands.

You are correct. Two years or 3 for the CI and X series.

I think the business plan of the Marantz line sounds better :)

I am so used to comparing Marantz to Onkyo (1 year warranty) I grouped Denon right in there with them. My mistake.

A waste of time & energy to worry about the sonic differences between the two. I believe they are both built in the same place too!? Yes. Inkel.

Yes. Inkel. It'd be like comparing two fairly generic brands of bottled water. Don't misunderstand me, Denon and Marantz are of course two great product lines...

For retail to DIY it's always been Denon and for installs I recommend Marantz but many of the el cheepo big box store lovers still choose Denon because they never heard of Marantz lol.
Have not played my with them side by side for a while, so not sure how the new models compare, from the older ones I always did find Marantz to sound better.

Denon and Marantz are now essentially identical in the audio DSP and digital video switching/scaling areas. Analog audio handling, internal ADC/DAC, and OpAmp quality are better in the Marantz than a comparable Denon [though at a higher price].
If your client is a discerning listener, Marantz should be your choice. If your requires more "utilitarian" functionality with lots of bells and whistles for the buck, Denon is the way to go.
